With its incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and its many nearby restaurants and shops, the pier has something for everyone. Here’s a closer look at this California icon.

A Brief History of the Huntington Beach Pier
The Huntington Beach Pier was built in 1904 and is the second oldest pier in California (after the Santa Monica Pier). It was originally built as a landing spot for ships carrying freight and passengers. In 1915, a concrete seawall was added to protect the pier from flooding and erosion.

In 1988, the pier underwent a major renovation that added a new restaurant, an outdoor amphitheater, and an interpretive center. In 2015, another renovation added an observation deck, new shops, and additional seating areas. Today, the pier is 1,850 feet long and remains a popular spot for fishing, sightseeing, and relaxation.
