The Speed UTV El Diablo is a high-performance 2-seat side-by-side built by Speed UTV (Robby Gordon’s outfit). It’s designed for off-road racing, long-distance desert rides, or just ripping through rugged terrain with serious capability. With a long wheelbase, aggressive suspension, turbo power, and numerous trim upgrades, it aims to compete with top-tier UTVs from Polaris, Can-Am, etc.
Developed by Speed UTV, a relatively new player led by Robby Gordon, known for motorsports and racing pedigree.
“El Diablo” is the long two-seat model (110-inch wheelbase), introduced to bring a mix of desert racing chops and premium build. It has been previewed in prototypes and pre-orders for some time.
Engine is a 999 cc twin-cylinder turbo (Speed 999 Turbo), liquid-cooled, DOHC.
Horsepower: ~225 hp on pump gas (depending on boost), with ~300 hp possible using E85 + “Speed Key” tuning.
Transmission: CVT with multiple ranges (park, reverse, neutral, low/high/cruise) and often options for “Low / High / Overdrive” etc.
Drive system: selectable 2WD/4WD, front differential kinda “dogged” for locked 4×4 in some trims.
Wheelbase / Dimensions: 110 inches wheelbase; overall length ~151 in; width ~77 in; height ~70 in.
Suspension: ~22 in travel front & rear in many trims. Speed 3.25-inch internal bypass (IBP) shocks on LE/RG, base has non-IBP in lower trims. Dual A-arms (front) and independent trailing arms (rear) in many trims.
Ground clearance: ~15.5 in.
Tires: Base ~30″, LE / RG editions ~33″. Beadlock wheels in higher trims.
Interior / cabin features: Bucket seats (vinyl or carbon fiber depending on trim), 5-point harnesses in LE/RG, Speed custom graphics/roof, optional intercom / radio in RG champ versions.
Base Model: The most basic build; simpler seats, 30″ tires, basic graphics, no beadlocks, simpler shocks.
LE (Limited Edition): Adds beadlock wheels, bigger tires, stronger shocks, better seats, roof, harnesses, custom graphics.
RG (Robby Gordon Edition): Top level; includes race-spec upgrades, custom cage/suspension finishes, intercom/radio, premium materials (carbon fiber or suede), full beadlock, etc.
LED lighting for visibility.
ROPS / roll cage are integral. Five-point harness in higher trims. Window nets in RG.
Power steering hydraulic. Brakes are hydraulic disc front and rear.
Digital instrument cluster: speedometer, tachometer, fuel temp, etc. Warn lights.
Fuel type: pump gas (~92 octane) standard; E85 optional / with tuning (“Speed Key”) for higher output.
Fuel capacity: ~15 gallons.
Efficiency: No official mpg numbers readily available; likely very low in trail use, given high performance and weight.
Competes with other premium performance UTVs like Can-Am Maverick, Polaris RZR Pro R, etc.
Where it tries to stand out is with bigger power-to-weight, longer travel, high performance in desert racing style, premium materials. Some value debates too (price vs reliability).
Base: ~$33,500 USD
LE: ~$45,499 USD
RG: ~$47,999 USD
It’s still relatively new, so not many formal industry awards yet. But it has generated a lot of buzz among UTV enthusiasts for its performance claims and features.
Also notable: Robby Gordon announced an LS7-powered version (alleged ~700 hp) in development for more extreme performance.
If you want, I can try to pull up 2025-specific data (if there were changes) and format it with your “bigger subtitles + more text” style so it matches your pages. Do you want me to do that?
